Our Pastor

PASTOR HOWARD & FIRST LADY TECLA SANDERS

The ministry of Pastor Howard and First Lady Tecla is not only compelling but powerful. Having grown up in Raleigh, NC, Howard gave his life to Christ and while under the ministry and leadership of Apostle Otis Lockett, and realized Gods calling to full-time vocational ministry at the age of 16. Upon graduation from North Carolina A&TSU in 1991 in the respective fields of Computer Science and his wife Electrical Engineering, they both stepped out in faith raising their own salaries for full-time service of over 8 years in a national ministry called Wellington Boone Ministries. There they assisted in the up building of a Christian movement on campuses that spanned the U.S. From Princeton, University of VA, University of MD College Park, Spellman, Morehouse, Virginia Commonwealth Univ., Virginia State University to UNC Chapel Hill, Winston Salem State, Hampton University and numerous other HBCUs in between, they were instrumental in reaching over several thousand college, high school, and middle school students. They also served as active missionaries traveling to Isabella Puerto Rico, St. Lucia, and Mexico City, Mexico while being instrumental in four church plants in Charlottesville and Virginia Beach, VA, Raleigh, NC, and Destiny Metropolitan Worship Church in Marietta, GA. After Howard married Tecla in 1996 they continued to serve faithfully together at Destiny Metropolitan Worship Church under the direction of Pastor Bryan Crute for 5 years where Howard served as the Maturity Pastor and was responsible for the discipleship and maturation of members.In 2005, God began to call them to plant a church of which they would pioneer as the Lead Pastor. Receiving a blessing from their local church, Trinity Chapel while LifeNet Pastors, God fulfilled that call and they prayerfully launched Become! in Kennesaw, GA three years later. Having started with only each other and four children out of their home at the time, and a passion and desire to see the name of Christ made famous, God sent them on their way.Howard and Tecla are now the Senior Pastor and First Lady of a vibrant and dynamic church in the Kennesaw area of Atlanta called Become! Church. Since the public launch of Become on Easter of 2008, with a core of 10 committed families; they have seen Gods hand move in a mighty way. Due to their strong ministry in healing and deliverance, through yielding to the working of the Holy Spirit; along with their apostolic and prophetic expression of God's Word, the church has been dynamic in its growth since its inception. Within a year, the church has seen itself double in size. They are unashamed of boldly leading others in powerful worship and becoming avid students of the Word!Ignited with this vision that was given over 13 years ago, this story is just beginning! Gods favor is evident, people are moving forward in their journey, and lives are being changed! Our mission is that people would truly BECOME all that God is calling them to be through an authentic encounter with Jesus Christ. It is being fulfilled as many are choosing to move beyond 'doing' church and actually 'becoming' rooted and grounded in a local thriving body of believers growing in the Word! Through this encounter, people are experiencing life and life more abundantly, freedom from their past and present, and inheriting God's HOPE for their future....with the best and brightest days ahead of them! 2 Corinthians 5:17 states, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things have passed away; behold all things have BECOME new." You too can be a part of this exciting journey and story no matter what your past has been! If you haven't already experienced a Sunday morning at Become! WE exist to show God's love, acceptance, and forgiveness through Christ to empower people to become all God has uniquely designed them to be.

Our Vision:

WE are a covenant community of believers and followers of Christ, who exist to see the unchurched people in our community and beyond BECOME all that God has uniquely designed and created them to be through: an atmosphere of Love, Acceptance, and Forgiveness. Authentic Ministry, Relevant Teaching, Exhortation, Empowering Messages, and Mobilization in Ministry- through the Mission Field and Marketplace Ministry. In short, we desire to provide a place that the unchurched can Connect to God, Grow in Him, Serve in His Kingdom, and Go reach others!

Our Statement of Faith:

At the core of what Become! Church does (our ministry) is what we believe (our doctrine). We are a community-driven, compassion-focused church that believes the Bible is the inerrant and infallible Word of God. We rely on the Bible for insight into how to walk the Christian journey on a daily basis. Many of our beliefs are discussed in detail in our Journey Class. Among other things, specifically we believe and practice the two ordinances that Jesus established for the church: Communion (or the Lord's Supper) and Baptism.
